51. HCL Comnet Systems and Services

The company has compensated for its previous fiscal, 1999-2000, with a
turnover of Rs 152.86 crore. HCL Comnet’s exceptional growth can be attributed
to banking and finance sector.

To provide the latest technology to IIT Kharagpur, HCL Comnet is in the
process of implementing a multi-service converged campus area network for IP
telephony, IP TV, video on demand, and video broadcasting. On the wireless
front, the company has provided point-to-multipoint connectivity to HLL. On the
ISP front, the company has executed projects for Forum Infotech, Caltiger, RPG
Sprint, Futech Solution and SAB Infotech.

Looking at the bottom line, it is seen that product contributes around 71
percent whereas integration, consultancy, and network maintenance and support
contributes to 29 percent more than the industry average. To provide better
options to the customers, HCL Comnet has tied up with several companies like
Gilat, Cisco, Viasat, 3Com, Alcatel, Motorola, Nortel, etc, for VSATs, RAS,
multiplexers, routers, switches, etc

To encash on Ku-band, the company plans to provide low cost broadband IP
services to be operational by June end. With IP telephony and contact center
gaining foothold in India, the company is developing expertise to be a leader in
this field.
