2G case: Delhi HC grants bail to Kanimozhi, four others

In a significant development, the Delhi High Court today granted bail to DMK Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi and four others accused in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.The Court granted bail on the accused while directing them to furnish two bonds of Rs 5 lakh each and ordering them that they cannot leave the country.

Apart from Kanimozhi the other accused who have been granted bail include Cineyug founder Karim Morani, Kalaignar TV's MD Sharath Kumar, Kusegaon directors Asif Balwa and Rajeev Agarwal.

After five bail attempts and spending six months in Delhi's Tihar jail, the Court's bail order will now allow Kanimozhi to walk free out of the prison.

After repeated disappointments, the granting of bail to Kanimozhi has come as a big breather for DMK chief M Karunanidhi's family and triggered widespread celebrations across the state of Tamil Nadu.The accused had approached the High Court after the Supreme Court granted bail to five corporate executives on November 23.
