UCWeb, a mobile internet software technology and application services provider has announced the launch of UCWEB 8.0, a mobile browser for Android phones in India.
The new browser is based on U3 kernel technology and offers higher speed than those of other mobile browsers in 3G network, and is up to 30% faster while accessing internet in WIFI environment compared to other browsers in the 3G network.
''UC is the world’s first mobile browser that adopts "cloud computing" framework of server-client hybrid computing. It is capable of compressing mobile Internet traffic up to 90% to save users’ cost for the data consumption, as well as to reduce the cost of operators'', said the company.
The company as of now occupies 20% market share of the total mobile internet market in the country with more than 200 million users worldwide.
“We observed a lot of striking similarities between the user behavior in India and China in terms of the handsets OS, applications, networks and user behaviors and we believe that growth in this space can be driven by technical expertise and innovation, which are synonymous with our philosophy of growth.
Therefore we are confident that our strategy for India will reap us outstanding results'', said Yu Yongfu, CEO, UCWeb during the announcement.
The company has partnered with over 500 partners in India, including Google, Getjar, Nokia, ebuddy, and nimbuzz to provide mobile internet services to local users.
