New Update

Reliance Infocomm will be starting commercial services of its Reliance IndiaMobile services from May 1, 2003 against the earlier announced date of April. Reliance has cited lack of implementation of nterconnect agreements with other cellular and basic operators as the reason for delay. According to the release, the Reliance IndiaMobile services would be fully functional across the country from May 2003, which will include full interconnectivity with all other service providers and two-way SMS operability. It also added that Reliance IndiaMobile customers will be able to make and receive calls from any landline, GSM cellphone or CDMA mobile phone from any network in any part of the country or the world.

Existing customers of Reliance IndiaMobile, who have been given the benefit of free on-net calls till March 31, 2003, will now enjoy this facility till April 30, 2003. However, they would be required to pay off-net charges payable to other operators.

All services associated with Reliance IndiaMobile would be offered through 252 Reliance WebWorld outlets and 1,000 field customer care desks, many of which are already operational while the rest will start functioning all over India in the next few weeks.
