Hughes Software Systems (HSS) has been at the forefront of providing software

development and services to communications clients worldwide. It is among the

few Indian companies having total focus on the communications sector significant

generating and yet revenues. In spite of the global slowdown in telecom sector,

HSS was able to achieve an 18 percent growth–from Rs 198.5 crore in 2000-01 to

Rs 234.9 crore in 2001-02.

During the last fiscal, HSS got new contracts from NEC for IP product

development, Thrane & Thrane for satellite-based 3G network development,

BSNL for delivery of mediation and service activation solutions, Motorola for

providing 3G solutions to its OEMs, interWave for next generation GSM solutions,

Brooktrout for wireless data solutions, and Nokia for telecom systems solutions

software. Add to that the previous fiscal’s list of Motorola, Audiocodes, Sun

Microsystems and Ericsson and the clientele of HSS reads like the who’s and

who of the communications equipment principals and service providers.
