ARM Ltd, the Hyderabad-based company, continues to be one of the largest
private sector telecom equipment manufacturers and turnkey solutions providers
to cellular, fixed, Internet, and satellite service providers in the country.
With a strong in-house technology team and a wide product range to cover a
broad spectrum of telecom products and accessories, the company did well in the
straining market conditions to record a growth close to 6 percent, with a
turnover of Rs 399.8 crore in the fiscal 2001-02.
Strong in turnkey solutions, the largest share of its revenues has come from
the cables segment. While JFT cables accounted for Rs 116.3 crore, OFC accounted
for Rs 108.6 crore. On the OFC front, it grew by over 20 percent.
The supply of transmission equipment like the microwave radio and optical
transmission equipment brought in Rs 83.2 crore.

Microwave towers accounted for
another Rs 23 crore. ARM has acquired significant skills and project management
expertise in the optical fiber access and backbone projects. So it was able to
win significant orders from Tata, Lucent, Tata Teleservices, Bharti Cellular,
and Bharti Telenet. In FY 2001-02, revenues from network integration and
services were Rs 68.8 crore. Its relationships with principals like Tellabs, RIT,
ZTE, Hyundai, and Enterasys, are the prime cause for its ability to win both the
government-owned and the private sector contracts.
