3Com—Commworks Corporation

Advertisment

A wholly owned subsidiary of 3Com, CommWorks Corporation offers versatile

solutions for multi-service packet-based networking. The CommWorks architecture

claims to allow service providers to deliver narrowband-enhanced data services,

IP telephony, wireless data, and broadband access over a single converged

network.

Commworks IP telephony solution has surpassed one billion minutes of live

voice traffic and is based on a carrier-class, three-tier architecture that

meets the demands of service providers on two fronts. It provides for the

seamless interconnection of existing infrastructure, such as the PSTN, IP

networks and the SS7 network. This allows for transparent delivery of

traditional telephony and new IP-based services. At the same time, the CommWorks

solution features standards-based, open Application Program Interfaces (APIs)

throughout its architecture, reducing time-to-market for new enhanced services

and applications.

The company is involved in some major SIP-based projects with carriers such

as Telia and Level 3.
