India's telecom users base stood at 964.2 million in the month of November, up by 0.16 million users over the previous month, according to telecom regulator Trai.

The total comprises 937.06 million wireless subscribers, up by 0.18 million in the month, and 27.14 million wireline subscribers, down by 14,000 in the month. In November 2014, 3.64 million subscribers submitted requests for mobile number portability, Telecom Regularity Authority of India (TRAI) said.

India’s mobile subscriber base climbed 0.18 percent month-on-month to 937.06 million at end-November.

“Private operators hold 90.81 percent of the mobile market share (based on subscriber base), while state-owned companies BSNL and MTNL hold 9.19 percent market share,” it said.

“India’s fixed-line subscriber base declined to 27.14 million in November from 27.28 million in October. The net reduction in India’s fixed-line subscriber base was 0.14 million at the decline rate of 0.50 percent. BSNL and MTNL hold a share of 75.96 percent of the fixed-line market,” it added.

However, the Indian broadband subscriber base increased to 82.22 million at 30 November from 79.21 million a month earlier.
