HCL wins Rs 25 crore laptop order from Chhattisgarh

HCL Infosystems has won and delivered Rs 25 crore laptop order from government of Chattisgarh.

The company has already supplied 14,000 free laptops within a month to final year engineering and medical students of government aided and private colleges across the state.

The project is part of the Chhattisgarh Yuva Suchna Kranti Yojana started by the Chhattisgarh government with special initiative of chief minister Dr Raman Singh to benefit final year engineering and medical students for the year 2013.

For this project, CHiPS is the nodal agency for procurement of laptops on behalf of the state government and also for executing the project in coordination with the directorate of technical education.

HCL will provide 14,000 laptops to the students in different districts comprising of 51 colleges across Chhattisgarh. HCL enjoys one of the largest installation bases of computer systems backed by the direct support network of one regional office, one area office and 7 location offices with more than 70 engineers covering the entire state.

The specifications of the laptops that will be given to the students includes Intel Dual core processor with 2 GB RAM, 500 GB hard disk and Wi-Fi among other features.

Speaking to Voice&Data, AM Parial, CEO, CHiPs said "Our specification is higher in comparison to UP and Assam and cost per unit is lowest at Rs 17,800 (inclusive of taxes)."
