Govt reduces spectrum price as proposed by TRAI

The Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) had recommended a reduction in the reserve price for 2G airwaves auction as suggested by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India( TRAI) said Milind Deora, Minister of State Communication and IT.

Interestingly , the EGoM had recommended reserve price for 1800 MHz band price at Rs.14,000-15, 000 crore for 5 MHz Pan India as against around Rs 18,000 crore recommend by industry regulator TRAI for the auction of spectrum.

On July 2Oth, EGoM headed by then home minister and current finance minister P Chidambaram recommended to the union cabinet headed by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in the reserve price for 2Gairwaves.
