ASUS's Zenfone5 runs out of stock

Taiwan-based technology company ASUS has sold out 20,000 units of Zenfone 5 smartphones within just few hours of availability on e-commerce website Flipkart.

The special extension offer for Independence Day witnessed stupendous response from the masses with 20,000 devices being sold out within few hours of availability. ASUS had re-stocked with 20,000 units on August 18, 2014. The company intends to refill the stocks within this week, a statement said.

The company has upgraded the latest Zenfone Series with OTG function. There has been addition of two extra resolution options, 3M/2M for real cameras and the front cam skin tone can now be adjusted. The device will now support ASUS unlock app, enhanced 3rd party app compatibility and improved system stability (modem).

The Asus ZenFone5, which was launched last month at a price of at Rs 9,999, has been available exclusively on Flipkart and through offline ASUS authorized channels.

The ZenFone 5 comes with a 5-inch 720x1280 pixel IPS display; a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor with Hyper-Threading technology, 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front facing camera, 8GB/16GB inbuilt storage, expandable storage via microSD card (up to 64GB), and a 2110mAh battery.

Within four days of its launch, the company sold 40,000 units of the ZenFone series.
