Asim Ghosh, MD of Hutchison Telecom is responsible for the
overall business. Prior to this, he held senior executive position with
Hutchison Whampoa in Hong Kong and managed a group of 13 consumer goods business
units with operators in Hong Kong, China and South-East Asia in the AS Watson
Division.
He worked at P&G for 10 years and then spent 7 years in
the beverage business with Rothmans International, America, and moved to the
main board of the billion-dollar brewery.
His strategic insight to make Hutch popular through marketing
savvy, quick reflexes and some memorable advertising met with unprecedented
success. Hutch India contributes the majority of the HTIL revenues, ie around
41% of the total revenues.
Asim Ghosh runs a tight ship; attrition rates are the lowest in the industry.
He has imbibed the professional culture and discipline in Hutch. Industry
observers are of the view that the organization is highly dependent on Ghosh for
strategic direction
