Airtel and Dr Jai Menon part ways

Bharti Enterprises and its CIO, Dr Jai Menon have dumped each other today,  after having a decade long association. As the adage goes, 'Truth has three sides - yours, theirs and truth'. Here, we bring you the two sides of the truth.

As per media reports, Dr Menon has been sacked due to his alleged financial interest in a few firms that Airtel partnered with. While Jai Menon has informed Voice and Data that these rumors are baseless. 

In a telephonic conversation with Voice and Data, Dr Menon stated, "I spent 40s consuming IT in telecom, my 30s creating and innovating IT through IBM in US and my 20s in deep core mathematics research. In 50s, I am keen to involve in deep technological research and creat intellectual property and technologies rather than remain as a consumer of technology."

While an Airtel's senior official has confirmed to Voice and Data that rumors over Menon's lay off and his involvement in financial irregulaties as true. 

The official added that last year Dr Menon's compensation from Airtel was in the tune of Rs 6 crore including about Rs 3 crore salary, perks, and Rs 3 crore ESOP."

Dr Jai Menon was the group CIO. He joined Airtel in 2002. He spearheaded outcome-based outsourcing model, he led global innovation, he architected wedlock betwwe Airtel and Google along with several other partnerships across the world.

Prior to joining Airtel, he worked with IBM and AT & T.
