The issue of 5G support on its products has been addressed by Xiaomi, an electronics behemoth best known for selling smartphones. Since October last year when PM Modi officially inaugurated 5G in India at the IMC 2022, Indian operators have been deploying 5G.

Smartphone makers raced rapidly to include 5G functionality in their models in order to compete in the big Indian smartphone market. Some devices, however don't even support 5G.On the list, a lot of Xiaomi items can be found. There are some devices that support 5G SA (standalone), some that support 5G NSA (non-standalone), and then there are those that support both.

What Is worth noting in this scenario is that while Jio is deploying its Jio True 5G network in a Standalone model, Airtel is deploying its Airtel 5G Plus network in a Non-standalone model. According to Xiaomi, its portfolio of over 20 5G smartphones supports 5G NSA and there are a few handset that are yet to support 5G SA model.

Xiaomi India, in a tweet clarified that, it is working to roll out support for 5G SA in 5G devices that don’t support it yet.

Since Jio is rolling out 5G SA and Airtel is implementing 5G NSA, Indian consumers would require smartphones that support both models. As a result, in case a customer who owns SIM cards from both operators would ideally look to switch to a handset that enables both 5G SA and NSA.

Addressing this issue, Xiaomi tweeted saying, "We are dedicated to addressing issues or concerns that our consumers may have pertaining to the 5G accessibility on some of our smartphones."

Xiaomi also announced that it would be releasing 5G support for the Mi 10, Mi 10i, Mi 10T, and Mi 10T Pro via an OTA (over the air) update. Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G and the Mi 11X and Mi 11X Pro are a few recent examples of devices to receive it.Users of the Mi 10 series faced disappointment since Xiaomi has made little progress towards an upgrade in the 5G capabilities of this series.

The business added that it is aligning all its products with this update to ensure a seamless 5G experience.
