On Monday, Reliance Industries Limited at its 45th Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2022, revealed the Jio Air Fiber. The fixed ultra-high-speed internet option is capable to transmit data at speeds comparable to fibre without using any cables.

According to Akash Ambani, the device can be installed at home or workplace to deliver gigabit-speed internet. A straightforward plug-and-play gadget called Jio Air Fibre will without any wire usage deliver 5G connectivity for a variety of applications, including cloud gaming, immersive sports streaming among others.

In essence, Jio Air Fibre is a wireless plug-and-play 5G hotspot device that can be used at home or at workspace. Users of the portable equipment put on display at the Reliance AGM, only require to plug it in and turn it on to start receiving wireless-highspeed broadband rates comparable to those of fibre optics.

Users will be able to access 5G speeds for a variety of applications, including cloud gaming augumented reality, and streaming immersive sports. Jio Air Fibre as the name suggests will carry 5G speeds over the air. Jio demonstrated how 5G will enable customers to concurrently broadcast numerous camera views of a sporting event in high resolution.

Customers will also have the advantage to avoid the costs associated with purchasing computer hardware by choosing a virtual PC that is hosted in the cloud instead, known as Jio Cloud PC.

The release date for the Jio Air Fiber has not been announced by Reliance Jio. It can't be said when or on what date will Jio Air Fibre debut. By Diwali, this year the telco expects to provide 5G services in a few Indian cities, with a bigger deployement to follow. In the key cities where 5G services have been installed, it is anticipated that the Jio Air Fiber will also be made available after Diwali, 2022.
