2G to 3G migration will fuel demand

How relevant and appropriate are your technologies for the Indian market?
New technologies, that we offer, will bring a lot of value to the service providers. For example, growth in rural telephony will encourage growth of distance extension, lower power, and better reliability in the India market. With our DWDM 10G/40G IPOC having universal NMS/EMS:T2000, we can manage all transport product management and network maintenance. In the future, it will evolve to U2000, then all network product could be managed by one NMS/EMS system. Also Huawei ASON provide intelligent control plan for end-to-end network. Through these products, an operator can improve network reliability to 99.9% and could reduce opex costs significantly.

With respect to the present economic slowdown, how does reducing operations cost and increasing efficiency become important for a telecom operator?
Under the present circumstances, reduction in opex and increase in efficiency have become a key focus area for of telecom operators globally. There are many ways, by which, our solutions can aid the customers to reduce cost of the overall network. We offer our customers (telecom operators) high capacity network with lower power, carbon footprint, and cost integrated systems. Besides, we have solutions for device reduction, which helps in integrating multiple functions and technologies to a single box. We also have solutions for common building blocks and universal cards across platforms to reduce inventory and training costs.

What are the growth drivers for Huawei in India?
Migration of telcom operators from 2G to 3G network is expected to be a good growth driver for us. Service operators are very excited for the arrival of 3G network in India. They are already exploring the products and technologies, which suit their needs. Besides, enterprise business needs, rural telephony and high-end services would be the other major growth drivers for Huawei in India.

Please highlight a few emerging trends in technology implementation that you have witnessed in the Indian market?
Telecom operators, these days, are looking for intelligent link management solutions, having adaptive modulation to handle weather changes in microwave links. Use of ASON intelligent control planes is also getting popular to improve the network reliability. Telcos also demand links to improve network performance and scalability. Besides, energy efficient systems with lower power and footprint solution, integrated service control and management across multiple layers and technologies to reduce complexity of systems are also in demand.
