New Delhi: Videocon Telecom is investing Rs 130 crore to upgrade its 2G network to 2.75 G EDGE (enhanced data for GSM evolution) in Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Gujarat.

"In India, 80% of mobile internet users still use 2G data enabled handsets, this is where we devised our strategy to upgrade our network to 2.75G EDGE technology, which is capable of delivering almost 8 times the speed of conventional 2G Network," Videocon Telecom chief executive Arvind Bali.

Meanwhile, the company is Rs 50 crore on its marketing campaign. "We are branding our network as "Pauney 3G" network (quarter to 3G Network). Looking at the initial results, I am sure this will be money well spent," Bali said.
