Vi CEO Takkar to succeed Himanshu Kapania as non-executive chairman

In a significant announcement made by Vodafone Idea(Vi), the company said that Ravinder Takkar will assume the position of corporate Chairman.

"The Board of Directors accepted the request of Mr. Himanshu Kapania, to step down as Non-executive Chairman of the Board, with effect from 18th August 2022. He will continue on the Board of Vodafone Idea Limited (“VIL”) as Non-Executive Director."

In a significant announcement made by Vodafone Idea(Vi), the company said that Ravinder Takkar will assume the position of corporate chairman after Himanshu Kapania is all set to step down from the position of Non-executive Chairman of the Board, from August 18, 2022.

Vi had earlier announced that Ravinder Takkar who is currently the telco's MD and CEO will be stepping down from both positions but would continue to hold the position as a non-executive and non-independent director of the organisation.

Himanshu Kapania will resign as non-executive chairman of the board but will continue to serve as a non-executive director on the VIL board. According to Vi, Kapania made the request himself and in the meeting of the Board of Vodafone Idea Limited held on Wednesday, the Board of Directors accepted Himanshu Kapania's request to step down as Non-executive Chairman of the Board.

"The Board of Directors accepted the request of Mr. Himanshu Kapania, to step down as Non-executive Chairman of the Board, with effect from 18th August 2022. He will continue on the Board of Vodafone Idea Limited (“VIL”) as Non-Executive Director. The board unanimously elected Mr. Ravinder Takkar, as Chairman of VIL Board, effective 19th August 2022," stated the official statement by Vi.

The announcement comes right after the auction for 5G spectrum that went on for 7 days got over and Vi also published their financial results for the first quarter of FY23. Vodafone Idea acquired 6228.4 MHz of spectrum worth Rs 18,799 crore. Vi has acquired spectrum in 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2500 MHz, 3300 MHz, and 26 GHz bands.
