TSSC inks MoU with Taiwan for collaborative skill development

NEW DELHI: Telecom Sector Skill Council, a non-for profit industry driven body set up under the aegis of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) took a giant step towards enhancing Skilling internationally by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Taiwan to strengthen cooperation in the skill development in Telecom sector.

The Agreement signed by Lt. Gen SP Kochhar (Retd), CEO, Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) and a high level delegation of Taiwan officials and experts led by J.P. Wang, Deputy Director General of the Department of Investment Services, Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) Taiwan is a significant step towards development of bilateral cooperation in the field of corporate job vacancies and recruitment services post skilling in India and Internationally.

Under the Agreement, TSSC will provide right trained/skilled workforce to Taiwan for employment in Taiwan and in return Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) will provide details of opportunities to serve various organizations which seek service of professionals trained by TSSC. Taiwan will also take the initiative in carrying out the exchange of recruitment information between members of TSSC and enterprises in Taiwan creating more job opportunities.

The benefits of signing the MoU will also promote other talent exchange activities such as mutual visits and exchange by TSSC and enterprises in Taiwan, and transnational projects. Thus it is an expression of cooperative relations.

Elaborating on the partnership Lt. Gen SP Kochhar (Retd), CEO, TSSC said, “Knowledge sharing and skill up-gradation with employability is one of our key focus areas. Our partnership with Taiwan shall enable us to design new vocational training and skill building programs which have a direct bearing on employment. This will help in bridging the employability gap and creating a specialized, skilled workforce.”

“This will promote & intensify the relationship and the mutual understanding between people to people of the two countries. Besides other areas, the two organisations will promote exchange of faculty, research and resource persons for skill training, guest lectures, joint research projects related to newer technologies in the telecom sector”, he added.

“India has amazing human resources, especially in the ICT services industry, which could meet the needs of Taiwan enterprises eager to upgrade and develop as well as explore overseas markets,” said David Wang, leader of the Taiwan group and deputy director-general of the MOEA’s Department of Investment Services. “We were on a mission to introduce Taiwan to Indian job seekers and work with Indian institutions to cultivate talent.”

Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (I/C) said “ Telecom Sector Skill Council’s (TSSC) main aim for the next 5 years is to train approximately 8.67 million people which will be beneficial for the telecom industry’s growth. We are outreaching to rural areas also by Online and Offline courses through various Training centres.”

“This industry ready workforce is aligned to the latest modules for applications from a simple machine to the most complex of technological processes. With the increasing demand for skilled workforce and changing trends in telecom, in both industrial and in general day to day life, there is a huge requirement across sectors which needs to be addressed at the earliest,” he further added.
