TRAI directs BSNL to restore interconnection in Punjab

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India(TRAI) has asked BSNL to restore all points of interconnection disconnected by it in the Punjab service area by 21st of october 2011.

The state owned operator recently cut off its services to private operators in the state over a dispute on interconnectivity charges following which its land line phones remained unreachable from mobile operators like Airtel, Vodafone, Tata etc.

Prior to this the Telecom Disputes Settlement& Appellate Tribunal(TDSAT) also ordered BSNL to resume its services.

TRAI has said that this act of telecom major has resulted in non completion of calls and caused a great inconvinience to the subscribers of both the interconnecting service providers and lead to deterioration in the quality of service provider which is against the interests of consumers and service providers.
