Managed

Data Networks (MDN) was the buzzword for Tellabs in the last

fiscal too. Most of its revenue came from banking and finance

sector. Out of the total of Rs 63.36 crore last year, this

sector accounted for 55 percent. The current growth could have

been higher if some of the state governments had gone in for

multi-service WANs. The largest order has been the MTNL order

worth Rs 14.4 crore. Another significant reference was the BSE

project of broadband-DSL-based data network.

Its success can be

ascribed to its art of educating the customer, preparing a sound

business case for it, and perseverance. It focused clearly on

managed and integrated wireline access network solutions on DLC

and HFC platforms; managed digital transport network supporting

PDH/SDH; MDN solutions; multi- service platform solutions for

ISPs, and transmission service enhancement systems.

It also setup a 100-percent wholly owned

subsidiary in the country and expanded of its offices. It will

continue with the corporate class ISP network bids, argue for a

nationwide MDN for India over DoT network, launch statewide WANs

for three companies, and also the GPRS solutions for GSM

operators.
