Telangana Academy, Red Hat to train youth on enterprise-ready Linux and Open Source curriculum

TASK, Department of ITE&C, Government of Telangana and Red Hat have entered into a MoU to offer Red Hat Academy training and certification programs to engineering students

BENGALURU: Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK), Department of ITE&C, Government of Telangana and Red Hat have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to offer Red Hat Academy training and certification programs to engineering students in the State of Telangana.

As part of the MOU, TASK and Red Hat will discuss areas for collaboration to equip all TASK Partner colleges with Red Hat Enterprise Linux for purpose of training and services for their labs and to subsidize the cost of training and certification for faculty. Open Source solutions are core to innovation in areas like cloud computing, containers, mobile, artificial intelligence and machine learning and beyond. With this MOU, TASK and Red Hat are aiming to prepare enterprise-ready talent in India.

Red Hat Academy is an academic training program designed by Red Hat to help institutions differentiate themselves by providing an enterprise-ready Linux and Open Source curriculum. As part of the program, TASK member institutions can receive no-cost instructor training and support, Red Hat Technology for use in the lab environments at the colleges with flexible delivery options and printed, digital or online textbooks.

Red Hat Academy's core curriculum consists of the Red Hat System Administration I and II courses followed by the Red Hat Certified System Administration (RHCSA) exam and certification. Upon completion of the core curriculum, students can take the Red Hat Administration III Course Path I, leading to the Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) exam and certification. Red Hat also provides technical training in these areas to the Red Hat Academy faculty at Institutions participating in the Academy Program.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Rege, Managing Director of India & SAARC at Red Hat, said, “We are happy for the opportunity to explore ways to collaborate with TASK and its partner colleges through Red Hat Academy, to help students learn about Red Hat Technologies and solutions and establish in-demand open source skills. We hope through this initiative with TASK, we can help prepare students for strong careers support future open source contributors and innovators.”

Sujiv Nair, CEO, TASK shared, “This collaboration aims to reach 1500 students in the next two years to gain expertise in open source skills and certification on emerging technologies like DevOps, Cloud, IT automation and more . Telangana Government has a strong vision to bring about a digital transformation and this association is another measure taken in the right direction.”
