Technology, in close proximity with the human body for the
ease of use and being in touch when mobile, has always been the vision of the scientists.
The resultant has been experiments like silicon T-shirts and even silicon transponders
implanted in the human body. A recent development in this series is a security bra. A
British inventor is working on a security bra that can tell if its wearer is attacked and
notify authorities with her precise location.
The techno bra, developed by a design student at the Royal
College of Art in London, Kursty Groves, features a built-in heart-rate monitor, a Global
Positioning Satellite (GPS) locator, and a wireless phone to detect the rapid jumps in
heart rate that denote sudden scares. The techno bra is made out of a special
electricity-conducting fabric that transmits the heart-rate signals to its built-in
monitor. Well, the prototype, which is as thin as most traditional bra liners, is machine
washable and the electronics could easily be removed on the laundry day. If it can act as
a bodyguard, there are no reasons why it cannot be extrapolated to the benefit of patients
with heart trouble or anything else. A novelty for a noble life!
