To build a semiconductor testing and packaging facility at Narasapura in Kolar district, which is located about 65 kilometres from Bengaluru, the Tata Group plans to invest Rs 200 crore. Tata Group is planned to establish an Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging (ATMP) plant in Kolar now that Wistron's iPhone manufacturing facility there has been acquired by the Tata Group.

In the ecosystem of the semiconductor industry, ATMP is crucial. Before being supplied to manufacturers, a chip must be inspected and packaged after printing. The projected investment by Tata for its semiconductor division is in line with efforts being made by the Karnataka government to support industrial growth in the state.

Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Private Limited would invest Rs 200 crore in Kolar and generate 155 jobs, according to a statement from the Karnataka industries minister's office on September 16. "State Level Single Window Clearance Committee (SLSWCC) has approved a total of 91 industrial investment proposals worth Rs 7,659.52 crore, with the potential to create 18,146 jobs within the state," read the statement.

MB Patil, the minister of industries and infrastructure development, presided over the state-level single-window clearing committee (SLSWCC), which on Friday approved 91 industrial investment proposals worth Rs 7,660 crore and with the potential to create 18,146 employment.

Maruti Suzuki India, Aequs Consumer, South West Mining, and Krypton (India) Solutions Private Ltd. are a few further investors. Maruti Suzuki India Limited is to invest Rs 137.6 crore in Nelamangala, a rural region of Bengaluru, and anticipates creating 1,908 jobs as a result. South West Mining Limited will have a set-up at Musinayakanahalli and Torangallu in Sandur taluk of Ballari district with an investment of Rs 411 crore; and Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Private Limited will be moving to Kolar with an investment of Rs 200 crore and offering 155 new jobs. 26 projects with a combined investment of more than Rs 50 crore and the potential to generate 13,742 employment have also been authorized by the government.
