SUSE provides operating system for Huawei SAP HANA Appliance Solution

NEW DELHI: Technology company Huawei and SUSE, an open-source software company, are collaborating to include SUSE Linux Enterprise Server as the operating environment in the former's new SAP HANA Appliance Solution.

The combination of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and Huawei's SAP HANA appliance will speed up real-time data analysis and processing for enterprise customers, for improving the decision-making capabilities of their businesses.

"The two companies will provide competitive hyper-converged solutions to help customers continuously improve business agility and make computing simpler, by consolidating resource advantages and deepening technical cooperation."

The new solution is Huawei's new-generation mission-critical server designed for workloads such as business databases, decision support and business processing.

The solution is based on RAS 2.0 high-reliability hardware with software technologies including kPar hard partition, CPU and memory module hot plug, and fault early warning. SUSE has worked with Huawei to develop cost-based SAP HANA multi-layer availability scenarios and provide solutions like system security reinforcement for SAP HANA applications, in addition to original support for performance-based high availability solutions. SUSE Linux Enterprise kernel page cache module and related kernel parameters have also been optimized to improve the performance of SAP HANA running on the Huawei appliance.
