Sunil Dutt to start his own venture

Sunil Dutt who resigned recently from BlackBerry as its MD is all set to start his own venture. The firm he is planning to set up will be in the field of technology and will be a mix of information and communication technology. The technology firm will be producing devices as well as offer services to retail customers as well as enterprises.

"This will be a mix of services and devices and we will be catering to both segment of users - retail and enterprises," said Dutt speaking to Voice&Data.

His new company will consist of some partners having exposure to ICT industry and the shareholding structure is being discussed. "Its almost at the finalisation stage and we will be announcing this in another three to four weeks," he added.

Dutt is planning to start offering services in next four to six months.

Upon asking about his early departure from BlackBerry, where he served just over a year and rersigned barekly weeks after the Canadian firm's latest device z10 launch in India, he said that he had planned to leave at the right time and the company was aware of it.

"My plan to start my own venture was there for a long time, even before i joined BlackBerry, but things were not moving as per plans," he said. "Now suddenly things moved very fast and I decided to take the plunge."

"I had also informed BlackBerry about my plans to quit post the launch of BlackBerry OS 10," he clarified.

Dutt, having more than two decades of experience, has exposure to both the industries, IT and telecom. In the recent past he has served Samsung and HP as the country head.
