Snapdeal appoints Amitava Ghosh as Vice President, Engineering

New Delhi: E-commerce company Snapdeal has named Amitava Ghosh as Vice President, Engineering.

In his new role, Ghosh will lead the development of intuitive technology solutions for ease of accessibility and enhanced user experience on the marketplace. He comes with over 17 years of experience in building highly scalable web-based products and platforms for consumer internet and enterprises.

He has spent several years working for a diverse set of organizations, both in India and USA, across large Internet companies, medium strength organizations and Silicon Valley start-ups.

Prior to his appointment at Snapdeal, Ghosh was the Chief Technology Officer at Taxiforsure before the company’s acquisition by OLA Cabs. Previously, he headed the India Engineering team of Tribune Digital Ventures (TDV).

During his stint at TDV, he played a pivotal role in building the company’s technology team and launched Newsbeat, a mobile application which provides personalized audio streams of news stories.

He also had a decade long stint at Yahoo where he was responsible for building platforms and user experiences for listings, media verticals, communities and social products. He holds an MTech degree in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

Ghosh will work out of the company’s technology innovation center in Bengaluru.
