Data curation is important for life sciences companies and academia to be able to extract important information from massive amounts of data. Rancho BioSciences curates life science data such as clinical data, case report forms, protocols, molecular data, phenotypic data, target and pathway knowledge, assays, medical records and claim forms.

Rancho has a strong track record of term mapping, building ontologies and dictionaries in order to better organize and harmonize disparate data.

BT provides a secure cloud infrastructure for data curation using its BT Connected Science platform. The data curation services from Rancho BioSciences will provide manual data curation services for public and internal data sets accessed through BT’s cloud services globally. Some of these data sets may come from data fed into public and third-party applications such as tranSMART, and other scientific tools that BT has deployed in the cloud, a statement said.

“We feed platforms such as tranSMART with manually curated content from the public domain and internal sources that can then be used for analysis in a variety of platforms hosted by BT. By providing organized, clean data that is easy to find it leads to better quality analyses and empowers scientists within their organizations to self-serve when looking for information," said Julie Bryant, CEO for Rancho BioSciences.

“By bringing the data curation services from Rancho BioSciences into the applications ecosystem that we already host on our BT Connected Science cloud platform, we enable great transformation opportunities within the life sciences industry. We are proud to be able to do this with clear commitments on application performance, security and attention to compliance requirements. This is a great example of our cloud of clouds vision at play,"” said Hubertus von Roenne, Vice President Global Industry Practices at BT Global Services.
