RailTel has been awarded a significant contract worth Rs 294.37 Crores by TASMAC for Computerization and Connectivity
The Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation Limited (TASMAC) has granted RailTel, provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure, a significant contract worth Rs 294.37 crores. According to a press statement, the order calls for TASMAC's Core and Support operations to be completely computerized and connected over the course of five years.
The whole computerization of TASMAC's operations, including the design, development, and deployment of the application, will be led by RailTel in its capacity as the system integrator. The application's main modules are the Track and Trace for Supplier, Depot, and Retail Vending Shop, Human Resource Management System (HRMS), and Financial and Accounting Module. Excise and TASMAC Integrated Supply Chain Management System (ETISCMS) is another important module.
The project's scope includes vital components including internet access at various locations, data digitization, master data creation, and migration of historic data. Additionally, for a period of five years, RailTel will set up a specific Help Desk and supply the necessary staff to run, maintain, and oversee the hardware and software system.
RailTel will supply the project's necessary infrastructure in addition to software solutions. As part of this, a Data Centre and Data Recovery Centre with clustering for two-way disaster recovery operations in coordination with the State data centre (TNSDC) has been established. RailTel will also be in charge of establishing IT facilities and services at a number of TASMAC locations, including the organization's head office, senior regional manager office, district manager office, depots, and retail vending shops all over Tamil Nadu (based on information from ANI).
An important step has been taken towards improving the effectiveness and digital capabilities of TASMAC's operations with the partnership between RailTel and TASMAC. TASMAC seeks to optimise its core and support processes by utilising RailTel's ICT infrastructure knowledge in order to improve operations, data management, and customer service.
