Infineon's Residential Gateway
Infineon Technologies has introduced a wireless broadband integrated access
device (IAD) reference design for digital home networks. The new design is based
on Infineon's IAD-on-a-Chip solution, the Danube, which combines an ADSL2/2+
transceiver, a 32-bit MIPS CPU, a VoIP co-processor and two integrated codecs.
Infineon's IAD reference design also features 802.11n WLAN connectivity based
on the draft 1.0 specification and a low-power digital enhanced cordless
telecommunications (DECT) base- station that provides a robust and reliable
solution for wireless phone calls over VoIP. This complete hardware/software
solution is intended to help companies to rapidly develop broadband IADs and
residential gateways that support multiple wireless electronic devices and
multiple cordless handsets via a single ADSL2+ broadband connection.
SunTec Launches Billing Software
SunTec Business Solutions has launched the TBMS-F V4 financial services billing
software to address the demand from the banking sector for a unified approach
across global markets and financial products. The TBMS-F V4 can now be deployed
globally across multiple countries, in addition to the multi-currencies and
languages already being supported, according to a SunTec statement.
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala-based SunTec estimates that TBMS-FV4 will grow its
revenues considerably. The company is currently registering more than 100% year
on year growth on revenues. According to the Mercer Oliver Wyman Annual Survey
of the financial services industry 2006, over 70% of the CEOs intend to review
the management and cost of the Information Technology systems as a potential for
unlocking hidden value. Suntec believes that the TBMS-F V4 will substantially
address this requirement and add strongly to the company's revenue growth.
Currently, Suntec's TBMS-F is solution of choice for leading financial
institutions that include ING bank, HSBC Group, Lloyds TSB and ICICI.
Analog Devices' ADE7169
Analog Devices has launched two families of single-chip energy meter ICs
that combine intelligent battery management and ADI's innovative signal
processing technology to address the needs of India's electricity market for
feature-rich, highly reliable meters. ADI's new ADE7169 energy meter SoC
(system-on-chip) includes intelligent battery modes that allow the meters to
maintain the time, sense temperature changes, run the LCD (liquid crystal
display) read-out, and perform other critical system functions, while using at
least 40% less power than competitive solutions. It combines features to enhance
tamper resistance and it not only measures the mismatch between phase and
neutral current but also measures an accurate RMS current when neutral is
missing.
HP Anounces New Storage Products for SMBs
Hewlett-Packard has announced new products and programs that will help small
and medium businesses (SMBs) address its increasing data storage requirements.
HP also launched the industry's first easy-to-use storage system that drives
down cost and complexity for mid-market and SMBs grappling with the challenge of
the exponential growth of data. According to a HP statement, All-in-One (AiO)
systems deliver a comprehensive storage solution that addresses a wide variety
of needs ranging from application storage management and reliable data
protection to affordable data storage. Using these systems, businesses with
limited or no storage expertise will be able to store, share, manage, back up
and protect their rapidly growing applications and file data in a flexible
networked storage environment. One of the key differentiator of HP AiO solution
is that one can transition the entire exchange storage to HP AiO in less than 10
simple steps.
