Speaking at an event, Modi said: "The government tends to work in silos. This continues to be the case in the digital world."

He added that the IT industry could help synchronize and interpret existing digital data and processes within government departments.

Building IT infrastructure would adopt innovations by the industry and initiatives such as 'Digital Locker' would increase the need for ‘cloud godowns’, as a result people would be able to store and access their documents and information on the move.

Digital India is a Rs 1.13-lakh crore program of the government that promises to connect the entire country.

He also sought the IT industry's active participation for conception and execution of ideas for the Prime Minister Office's mobile app, which is being developed in collaboration with Google.
