iPhone unveils in India, Airtel & Aircel offer plans

iPhone 5 is officially launched in today and it is priced at Rs. 45,500 for 16GB model, Rs. 52,500 for 32GB model and Rs. 59,500 for 64GB model. Airtel and Aircel are set to woo iPhone fans with voice and data plans.

In an official launch of iPhone today at Bengaluru, Rohit Malhotra, chief executive officer, Karnataka circle, AIrtel said, "iPhone 5 functions only on a nano-sim card and none of the smartphones across the world use it. Airtel now has a stock of nano-sim cards, which are meant only for the phone." He further added that Airtel bent on this strategy with an intent to enhance data subscribers and there is no revenue sharing between Apple and Airtel.

Bharti Airtel is offering four voice and data tariff plans for the iPhone postpaid users on its HSPA+ and DC HSPA networks and it is giving a 50% discount on all its plans. One, Rs. 300 plan after a discount of 50% includes 500 local minutes, 300 local and national SMS and 200MB of 3G data. Two, The Rs. 500 plan comes with 900 local minutes, 400 local and national SMS and 500MB of 3G data. Three, Rs. 800 plan offers users 1,400 minutes of call 500 local and national SMS and time, 1.2GB of 3G data. Four, Rs. 1,000 plan offers 1,500 minutes local time, 600 local and national SMS, and 3GB 3G data. Airtel is offering similar data plans for the prepaid customers as well.
