Although 5G services have not yet been implemented nationwide in India, initial users there have already reaped major benefits provided by the technology.

Early users had fast upload and download speeds, according to data from UK-based telecom analytics company OpenSignal.

The report claims that throughout October, average download speeds over 5G  in India were 16.5 times higher than those over 4G, increasing to 242.1 Mbps compared to 14.7 Mbps on 4G networks. Peak download speeds on 5G ranged at 690.6 Mbps, 11.6 times faster than those on 4G at 59.5 Mbps.

According to the business, a "very good" grade for video experience denotes, quick loading times with sporadic interruptions.

Additionally, 5G has improved upload speeds for users. According to OpenSignal's data, customers experienced upload rates of 21.2 Mbps on average, which,was 5.4 times quicker than the 3.9 Mbps seen on 4G. Remote employees and users who frequently post videos to social media might both benefit from faster upload times.

Hardik Khatri, data analyst at OpenSignal said, “These findings prove that 5G delivers a significantly improved mobile network experience in India compared to older 4G services. However, it’s essential to understand that 5G is still very new in India, with relatively fewer 5G users in limited locations.”

Similar to consumers in other countries, gamers in India rated their experience and gave their 5G multiplayer gaming experience a score of 67.9 out of 100, placing it under the category "fair". Users also gave their 4G experience a rating of "bad," giving it a score of 56.9.

“A Very Good rating for Video Experience represents generally fast loading times and only occasional stalling, but the experience might have been somewhat inconsistent across users and/or video providers/resolutions. And  as we descend to lower categories, loading times lengthen, and users encounter more stops and stutters in the video stream,” Khatri concluded.
