Huawei Honor 2 launched in India at Rs 22,999

NEW DELHI: After venturing into India a year ago with the launch of Honor 6, the consumer brand of Huawei is expanding its portfolio with the launch of Honor 7, which is priced at Rs 22,999 and will be available at online marketplace Flipkart.

The 16GB inbuilt storage smartphone runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and features an aluminium alloy design to sport a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixel) display with a pixel density of 423ppi. The phone is expected to get an Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in February 2016.

The smartphone is powered by the company's 64-bit octa-core Kirin 935 processor (four Cortex-A53 cores at 2.2GHz + four Cortex-A53 at 1.5GHz) with 3GB of RAM and ARM's Mali-T628 GPU. The phone runs EMUI 3.1 skinned on top of Android. On the storage front, the smartphone has a microSD card slot, with expandability up to 128GB.

In terms of camera specifications, the Honor 7 has 20-megapixel rear camera with phase detection autofocus. The camera features a Sony IMX230 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 6-lens module, dual-LED flash, and sapphire glass protection. The phone has an 8-megapixel front-facing 26-mm wide-angle fixed focus camera with a f/2.4 aperture and a front-facing flash module.

One of the highlights of Honor 7 is the fingerprint sensor which the company claims can read fingerprints in 0.5 seconds and a feature for reverse charging which can be used for charging other devices.

On the connectivity front, the phone offers options such as NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, and 4G LTE.

It measures 143.2x71.9x8.5mm and weighs 157 grams along with offering of a 3100mAh battery.

Speaking at the launch, Zhao Gang, Vice-President, Honor International Business, said, “We are enthusiastic to introduce the Honor 7 in India today. The phone is a testament of our commitment and growth across markets. As a global pioneer, Honor travels wide and this is currently demonstrated by its efforts in key markets such as India, Russia, Germany, France and the United Kingdom. The device’s precise dimensions and metallic finish offer an optimal form-factor and premium feel, while its smart and multimedia capabilities inspire action and creativity.”

It also showcased the unveiling of Honor Band Z1, which would be priced at Rs 5,499. The band has a circular design with brushed metal bezel around the corners and display at the center. It is dust proof and water resistant and has been accredited with IP68. Combined with MyFitnessPal app, the band will be able to track steps and has a sleep tracking mechanism as well.
