How much should you expect to pay for 5G plans?

When are the telcos expected to begin rolling out 5G services in the country? Which cities will receive 5G first? What should you expect to pay for 5G plans of various telecom companies?

The telecom companies might launch 5G as a test programme in major cities first. On September 29, the Prime Minister is scheduled to formally introduce the 5G network at the India Mobile Congress(IMC).

Jio in its Annual General Meeting recently announced that it is ready to roll-out its 5G services in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata by this Diwali and nationwide by December, 2023.

As of now, only 13 cities are anticipated to receive Airtel's 5G rollout. Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune are among them.

Pricing for Jio 5G is anticipated to be higher than that of its 4G plans. Jio is expected to charge more or the launch of its 5G plans. In case Jio decides to launch 5G at a competitive price, this might be reversed. Jio 5G would likely start at about between Rs 400 to 500 monthly. Jio might also maintain fair pricing for the 5G bands with increased frequency.

Whereas, pricing for Airtel 5G is anticipated to be comparable to that of its 4G prepaid plans. There isn't a significant difference between 5G and 4G tariffs on a worldwide scale. It is expected that 4G rates will be similar to 5G plans in India.

Vodafone Idea on the other hand thinks the pricing should be kept higher than 4G since it would be the fastest network available. Users already receive limitless benefits from 4G prepaid packs costing between Rs 500 and 600 according to Vi. Pricing for 5G plans may fall within a similar range.
