Freecharge joins hands with MTNL

NEW DELHI: India’s digital payments platform FreeCharge has partnered with Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) to provide a swift and secure way to make cashless payments for MTNL bills in Mumbai. MTNL is a state-owned telecommunications service provider in the metro cities of Mumbai and New Delhi in country.

FreeCharge will also offer features like Auto-enroll and Bill reminders so that MTNL customers don’t have to worry about forgetting bill due dates and incurring late fee charges on delayed payments. The 10-second payment of utility bills and reminders for recurring payments is part of FreeCharge’s aim to help customer transactions fast, secure and convenient.

Commenting on the partnership, Govind Rajan, CEO - Freecharge said, “We are pleased to partner with MTNL, one of the largest providers of landline and broadband services in Mumbai. Customers can also use the Freecharge wallet for numerous other services including payment of telephone and DTH bills, recharges and for shopping at various brand outlets and online platforms. Customers can also use FreeCharge’s Chat-n-Pay feature to seamlessly chat and pay in a secure way with friends and family in less than 5 seconds. This interface also serves to connect merchants and consumers to chat, shop and make Person-to-Merchant (P2M) payments.
