This solution will help STC to reduce operational costs and become more environmentally friendly while offering creative and pleasing design that help to reduce carbon emissions in the kingdom.

The Tower Tube also takes up less space on the ground, saving land space thus reducing costs further. "At STC, we try to sustain collaboration with Ericsson not only within the context of our objectives, but through the acquisition of the latest and most suitable infrastructure technology for the Saudi telecommunication sector, which would ultimately revolutionize the entire development and renovation process at STC," said Bander Alqefari, network vice president, STC.

Besides allowing us to reduce operational costs, this new technology will also support STC’s efforts to lower our environmental impact by using more sustainable products, green technology, and becoming more energy efficient added Alqefari.

"We strongly believe that our primary aim is centered on developing products and solutions that fulfill the demands and requirements of our customers, and to make their business and life much easier. Therefore, STC employs all its resources to develop a telecommunication concept that serves not only as a tool for conveying and sharing information, but as a channel that can help people solve their problems and make their lives much facile," said Bander Alqefari.

Ali Eid, president of Ericsson, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, said "Around the world our colleagues are actively engaged in addressing global sustainability and corporate responsibility needs at the local level, working together with local stakeholders to create solutions that benefit communication for all, a low-carbon economy and reduced environmental impact.

Through innovations such as the Ericsson Tower Tube, we hope to lead the transition to a low-carbon economy and decrease CO2 emissions regionally and globally." The Ericsson Tower Tube solution supports the full spectra of antennas and radio equipment and can also house substantially more antennas and micro-wave dishes compared with a traditional tower solution.

The tower’s concrete exterior provides a stable internal environment while simultaneously protecting all equipment from adverse weather conditions and vandalism. With its cutting-edge design, that lends it to being built in many sizes and painted in a variety of colors, the Ericsson Tower Tube is a natural fit in any landscape. It also opens up for passive infra-structure sharing for example multi-operator sites.
