With LTE subscriptions forecast to reach 4.1 billion by the end of 2021, a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 25 percent, and increased data consumption per subscription, operators are challenged to efficiently scale their networks while ensuring great app coverage for their customers.

Ericsson’s newest hardware and software address LTE growth opportunities while supporting the operator’s evolution to 5G.

“We are excited to have been able to efficiently drive new performance milestones in our LTE network in the evolution towards 5G, including recently partnering with Ericsson to demonstrate the world’s first end-to-end 1 Gbps capability on Telstra’s live network. Ericsson’s latest LTE innovations, including Gigabit LTE will enable us to continue to raise the bar in terms of user experience across a wide range of applications and media streaming,” said Mike Wright, Group Managing Director Networks, Telstra.

“Microwave backhaul continues to play a very important role in the evolution to 5G. Ericsson has once again demonstrated its leadership with Multi-band Booster enabling substantial increase in capacity and improved use of spectrum,” said Dragan Raguz, Head of Transmission, Tele2 Croatia.

“Ericsson has pulled together an impressive grouping of software features to enable the commercialization of 1 Gbps service levels on LTE, foreshadowing the extreme app coverage promised with 5G. Operators will also be impressed by how quickly the Ericsson Radio System, announced at MWC 2015, has become a foundation for technology innovation and has expanded to encompass new access and backhaul products,” said Ken Rehbehn, Principal Analyst, 451 Research.

"Our latest combination of software, hardware and network architecture innovations supported on the Ericsson Radio System, ensure that our mobile operator customers can continue to delight their customers while driving network performance and efficiency improvements as they evolve to 5G. Gigabit LTE, Elastic RAN, and new radio access and microwave backhaul products are all designed to help our operators become the frontrunners in their markets,” said Arun Bansal, Senior Vice President and Head of Business Unit Radio, Ericsson.
