E-Plus Group selects NSN for LTE rollout

Germany's E-Plus Group has selected Nokia Siemens Networks as a partner for deploying its 4G, LTE network.

NSN will also modernize and expand the E-Plus GSM and HSPA+ networks. The agreement between the two companies covers the delivery and integration of the operator's mobile access network.

As part of the contract, the company will deliver its radio access network which features its advanced energy-efficient, high-capacity Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station. The company will also provide its Liquid Radio GSM software suite, the market-leading GSM spectrum efficiency suite that enables operators to free GSM spectrum for LTE.

"E-Plus aims to offer mass market customers an optimal web browsing experience anytime and anywhere," said Andreas Pfisterer, CTO and member of the board at E-Plus Group.

After the rapid upgrading of our network to the HSPA+ standard, we will continue our user-oriented and economically targeted network expansion strategy with the launch of a demand-driven LTE expansion under the motto ‘Smart LTE' added Pfisterer.

"While customers' service expectations are increasing, the growing popularity of smartphones and bandwidth-hungry services are putting huge pressures on operators' networks," said Stefan Ilchmann, head of KPN customer business team at Nokia Siemens Networks.

Nokia Siemens Networks will provide its innovative technology to help E-Plus Group respond to these challenges, providing best-in-class mobile services Ilchmann.

"As the world's specialist in mobile broadband and leader in LTE commercial deployment, Nokia Siemens Networks will provide its global experience in order to leverage E-Plus' spectrum assets and installed base to a maximum," said Ingo Goldenberg, head of E-Plus customer team at Nokia Siemens Networks.

Under the contract, Nokia Siemens Networks will expand E-Plus' current HSPA+ capacity in the 2100 MHz band while modernizing its GSM network.

Nokia Siemens Networks will also expand the capabilities of its NetAct network management system and deliver various services such as installation and integration, network optimization and build.
