Tower sealing and delayed permissions in Uttar Pradesh, according to the Digital Infrastructure Providers Association (DIPA), may affect cellular connection. According to DIPA, NOIDA and the Ghaziabad Development Authority have so far turned down more than 480 requests for towers.

The NOIDA and Ghaziabad Development Authority have issued several rejection notices to DIPA's members, informing them of the location-based limitations, licence requirements, and the fact that towers are not allowed to be placed in residential areas. These denials, however, are in violation of the 2017–2021, 2022 amendments to the Indian Telegraph Right of Way (RoW) Rules, 2016.

ATC, Ascend Telecom, Indus Towers, Summit Digitel, ATC, and Sterlite Technologies make up a few of the organization's members.

In a letter to Durga Shanker Mishra, the chief secretary of the government of Uttar Pradesh, and NOIDA authority chairman Manoj Kumar Singh, TR Dua, the director general of DIPA, asked for help persuading the NOIDA authority of the value of communication infrastructure and the need to allow its operations without any coercive action.

If landlords continue to permit the operation of communication sites, they risk having their properties sealed, claims Dua. If action is not taken right away, additional delay may severely affect telecom connectivity and have an adverse effect on key services, according to DIPA. These challenges require urgent involvement and support.

Additionally, DIPA wrote to the Uttar Pradesh government last month to voice its worry about coercive steps against its member companies.

Jio and Airtel are rolling out 5G across India for free right now. Both the telcos have jointly covered over 3000 cities in India. They are rapidly increasing their 5G deployment nationwide including over 500 cities of Uttar Pradesh.

Reliance chairperson Mukesh Ambani also announced earlier this year at Uttar Pradesh Global Investor Summit 2023 (Lucknow), that Reliance Jio will complete its rollout of 5G to every town and village of Uttar Pradesh by December of 2023.
