In a nutshell, managed databases relieve database analysts from having to monitor every aspect of a database through their end-to-end data management services.

Pune-based Dataction Analytics, a procurement analytics company, and travel and tourism company TUI have won the “Innovation of the Year” at the Global Sourcing Awards 2018. The Global Sourcing Association (GSA) had announced the winners of the first Global Sourcing Awards at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in South Africa, bringing together 400+ global industry leaders, representing C-suite buyers, leading outsourcing service providers, advisors and more.

The GSA Global Sourcing Awards recognize organizations that constantly deliver results in the outsourcing industry, despite the unprecedented disruption at a global level.

Dataction was recognized for its idea to co-develop a unique and pioneering spend visibility solution. It uses a new combination of accessible low-cost cloud technologies, analyst resources for manual classification, and creative proprietary processes to deliver enhanced spend data against TUI’s overheads budgets.

“The first phase of the solution was successfully delivered by a multi-national team in just four months, covering over 70% of TUI’s indirect spend. This enables management reporting and opportunity analysis in areas such as IT and Marketing. The aim is to have the platform covering over 90% of TUI’s indirect spend,” said Paul Harlington, TUI Group Procurement Director.

Harlington further added, “The Spend Visibility platform collaboration was one of the most rewarding sourcing projects I have ever undertaken. The collaboration with Dataction Analytics turned around a situation from an unfeasible project with external partners to one that surpassed expectations and delivered faster (and cheaper) than expected, delighting TUI executives in the process. A truly innovative outcome for a successful partnership.”

Dataction adopted a bold and agile approach which a larger company might struggle to think of – the solution comprised of a new combination of technology (unused in this context before), adopting cloud hosting early in TUI, and a service model that is truly creative. It challenges leading market offerings with an alternative, lower cost/higher value-add solution.

Commenting on the success, Saurabh Limaye, CEO, Dataction Analytics said that the joint delivery of a unique spend solution has taken this collaboration to the next level for his company.
