Coolpad to set up R&D, manufacturing unit in India

NEW DELHI: Smartphones manufacturer and integrated wireless data solutions provider Coolpad Group has entered into the Indian market and is planning to set up an R&D center and manufacturing unit in India.

It is expecting to become India’s number one smartphone brand in the online space.

The company appointment Varun Sharma as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), who will be looking after the India operations.

A leader in 4G/ LTE segment, Coolpad Dazen is one of the world’s fastest growing smartphone players and also the fastest growing online brand in China. As part of its commitment to ‘Make in India’ campaign, the company would set up the R&D center in India.

"We want to be a leader in this market and are happy to appoint Varun as the Country head for our India operations who brings with him immense and diverse experience in the consumer and online industry. We want to build a great Indian Internet company that will focus on creating benchmark devices and a great software ecosystem," said Varun Sharma, India CEO, Coolpad Dazen.

Prior to joining Coolpad Dazen, Varun was Director at Flipkart and led Flipkart’s strategic global partnerships. He has several years of experience in leading and building brands for in India and South East Asia. Varun is an alumnus of IIM Calcutta.

Coolpad Group globally holds more than 6,000 patents, including dual sim, dual standby.
