Champion’s HP facility to start operations from June-end

IT and communications firm Champion has said its manufacturing facility for mobile devices in Himachal Pradesh, India, will start operations from June end and it is expected to roll out one lakh units per month.

“With the growing demands and constantly evolving market, commencing of our own facility will assist us to have an edge over the competitors. Post our association with BSNL this would be another step ahead to establish ourselves further in the country. Our facility will be operational from June end and we expect to manufacture one lakh units per month in the initial phase. We are targeting to triple it by the end of the year,” said Kapil Wadhwa, MD, Champion Computers.

Champion Computers plans to launch three to four devices every month after the commencement of the manufacturing unit. After mobile phones, the company will start manufacturing tablet PCs.

Last year, it signed an agreement with BSNL for introducing a host of new mobile computing devices, including smartphones, tablets, data cards and wireless networking products.

The company has sold over one lakh devices so far. It has an established network of about 3,000 dealers across country and has a nationwide distribution network of 14 branch offices and 400 service centers.

Champion has recently launched DM6513phablet with 6.5-inch display and Android 4.2 is priced at Rs 6,999.

The range would also include Champion Wtab-704 Calling Tablet and Champion Wconnect — HSUPA-Wireless Data Card-3.5Gwith a download speed of 7.2mbps.

The company will also expand its channels gradually to ascertain their all-round reach and development.
