BICSI Conference 2013 focuses on Big Data, SDN, BYOD

The newer trending technologies such as Big Data, Software-Defined Networks, Internet of things (IoT), BYOD, Convergence and Social Media will boost structured cabling industry in recent times, opined information transport systems (ITS) industry veterans at an annual BICSI India District Conference and Exhibition 2013 held in Bangalore today. The event reiterated that these current opportunities emerging from newer technologies ought to be encashed by the ITS industry by aligning to the change and by raising the bar of value proposition constantly.

Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI), Florida-based association which informs, educates and assesses information transport systems (ITS) industry completes its 10th year in India. Dileep Kumar, former District Chair, BICSI India reminisced that 10 years back the key trends in the market were Gigabit Ethernet, 10GbE and Cloud while the list of these technologies has become longer now. Therefore, there is a dire need to learn these evolving things. "BICSI India has strengthen over the years - which started with a meager 12 people from structured cabling industry - it is now an important District which is on the verge of gaining the status of Region. The association which was bonded by the structured cabling community initially has today become an ITS body truly - today it has members from across networking segments like active cabling community, distributors, system integrators and channel community," he added.

Jangoo Dalal, Independent Management Consultant mentioned that companies will adopt best of technologies like SDN , virtualization etc but these technologies will be utter failure if networks do not support. He advised the cabling community to be well aware of basic concepts of these newer technologies.

In a session, Prakash Krishnamoorthy, Country Manager, HP Networking emphasized, "Legacy networks are at the breaking point. Social Media will sweep the networking side. SDN and applications are changing networks.

The key participants of the event include Digisol, Schneider Electric, Belden, Corning Cable Systems, Fluke Networks, Panduit, Topnet Distribution India, 3M Electro & Communications, Conteg, Netrack Enclosures, ADC Krone, Optinext Technologies, HP Networking, Sigma Byte. It drew more than 300 delegates from structured cabling community, channel partners, distributors, resellers and system integrators. .
