size="2">The source of power to the mobile phones and laptops
traditionally has been batteries. Generally, those used in the
phones are the nickel-cadmium or lithium ion cells with a
standard standby time ranging between 30 and 270 hours and talk
time of 2-3 hours. But now, this is going to be revolutionized.
It will be alcohol which will fuel the electronic gadgets.
According to Telegraph Group Ltd, London, an American scientist
has discovered the method to power mobile phones and laptops
using alcohol and air. This will be by using technology being
harnessed to generate power for space shuttles. Cellphones or
laptops will have micro fuel cells which will produce the 4 watts
energy necessary to activate a cellphone. These are not only easy
to manufacture but are also expected to last for 20 years. And
the cell elements can be printed by millions on a single plastic
sheet. These microcells can be charged by pouring 1.5 ounces of
inexpensive methanol. Well, another power in arm for the user,
isn’t it!
