NEW DELHI: The telecom equipment maker company Alcatel-Lucent said that it will supply its IP routing technology – including the 7950 XRS IP Core Router and 7750 Service Router to China Telecom.

The new technology will allow China Telecom to expand its 4G LTE ultra-broadband wireless network and meet booming customer demand.

"China is the wireless broadband market leader1, and is expected to account for nearly a third of global 4G LTE subscriptions by 2019. To do so, China Telecom has turned to Alcatel-Lucent to ensure that its IP network has the scalability and flexibility to manage the future growth in data traffic, allowing it to deliver high-quality 4G LTE services, even as it expands its network further," the company said.

Alcatel-Lucent will apply its leading core and edge routing technologies in the deployment with China Telecom. The 7950 XRS, already in use in Jiangsu province and Shanghai, will manage the increasing traffic in the urban data centers of Beijing – China’s capital city and one of the world’s most populous cities - as well as the financial hub of Guangzhou. Alcatel-Lucent’s 7750 Service Router will be deployed across seven major provinces.

All deployments will be completed in preparation for service in China Telecom’s network in December.

Under the agreement with China Telecom, the telecom giant will also deploy its 9926 eNodeB LTE radio access technology in 12 provinces of China, while introducing LTE-Advanced Carrier Aggregation capabilities for LTE FDD in major cities for the first time in China.

"As mobile data demand continues unabated in the world’s largest mobile market, China Telecom wants to expand its 4G LTE network, increasing its capacity to provide customers with faster access to video content, pictures, interactive web content and other high-bandwidth applications to ensure the highest quality of experience and enjoyment by its customers," it said.

This agreement further expands on the deployment of LTE services announced in March 2015 as China Telecom continues to transform its subscribers’ mobile ultra-broadband experience.

Alcatel-Lucent has established a strong global leadership position in LTE with 87 contracts in 48 countries, serving the top 10 global telecom operators.

The telecom equipment maker will complete the deployment this month.
