Airtel is developing Xstream AirFiber 5G to enable creation of 5G hotspots at home and at work

A hotspot option that would take advantage of Airtel's 5G connectivity looks to be in the works. Users would need to link the Xstream AirFiber 5G router into a power source for it to work, which will be the solution. To further configure the gadget, users must obtain an Airtel SIM card and download the Airtel Xstream AirFiber app. Similar to Reliance Jio's JioAirFiber, which is marketed as an alternative to conventional Wi-Fi routers, the product is also offered in India. The development has not yet been confirmed by Airtel.

GSMArena reported using pictures taken from the OnlyTech forum that, A new Xstream AirFiber app from Airtel haD been released on the Play Store (Now Unavailable). Users will be able to configure and control the Xstream AirFiber 5G gadget using a companion app. Through 5G networks, it will provide high-speed internet connectivity similar to fibre at a reasonable price.

When linked to 5G, the first indication, which will start off red, will change to blue. On a 4G network, it will continuously flicker. The second indicator will display the 4G/5G network's signal strength. Users will be informed that the third and final indicator means the device is prepared to offer WiFi access to connected devices.

The app listing also shows that in order to use the Xstream AirFiber, a user must be within the 5G coverage area. Your smartphone's location permission will be used to locate the closest 5G location. The user must adhere the instructions and locate a 5G place close to the open space, such as a window or door. This is to guarantee that the equipment can obtain the finest 5G connectivity available for optimal performance.

The router's bottom has a slot where the SIM card should fit. If consumers want to directly connect their laptops or PCs to the Airtel router, they can do so by using one of the Ethernet ports on the back as well as the power supply. The internet speeds provided by this technology are often quicker and more reliable. Users will see three signs for internet network, cellular network, and Wi-Fi connectivity once the gadget is ready. The Reliance Jio AirFiber operates in a similar manner.

As previously mentioned, Airtel is yet to reveal the product. As on April 30th, 2023 of the total 850.94 Million broadband subscribers (Wired+ Wireless), Bharti Airtel held 244.37 million subscribers of which Wired Broadband Subscribers were 6.25 million and Wireless Broadband Subscribers stood at 238.11 million according to TRAI data. The total market share held by Bharti Airtel was 28.72%.
