During 25-28 February, Mumbai will witness the
first event in Asia on convergence—Networking + Internet
’98 (CN+I ’98)—at Hotel Leela.
To add to the success of the event, Computer
Society of India (CSI) and Telecom Equipment Manufacturers’
Association (TEMA), the leading IT and telecom organizations in
India, have joined hands with Trade Fairs & Conferences
International (TFCI), the promoter of the show, as hosts.
CN+I ’98 is claimed as Asia’s first
business-to-business event focusing on convergence of IT,
communications, broad casting, and consumer electronic
technologies. The event addresses the need of policy-makers,
manufacturers, technology professionals, users, sellers and
buyers of technology to network and exploit opportunities of
mutual benefit.
CN+I ’98 will have a technology
conference, trade fair, technical workshops, tutorials, and other
value-added programmes.

CN+I ’98 conference will cover the
complete gamut of convergence technologies. From Internet to
extranet solutions, to Internet commerce. From server-centric
solutions to CTI. From ATM and Gigabit Ethernet services to ISDN
and wireless. The event will cover the business and technical
aspects of the three streams—communications, networking, and
Internet—and their convergence.
At the conference, IT, telecom, consumer
electronics, broadcasting, and object technology luminaries from
India and abroad will speak on the convergence of various
technologies and its importance to the Indian market. The
conference advisory panel comprises FC Kohli, Dr S Ramani, DK
Ghosh, PS Deodhar, Pravin Gandhi, and Dr Bishnu D Pradhan. The
CEO Conclave on 25 February is one of the highlights of the
event.
Some of the top communications and IT
organizations are participating in the exhibition. They will
display their products in the event.
"Convergence Live", the theme
pavilion, will be a live demonstration of solutions using
convergence of technologies to meet the varied needs of
corporates ranging from consumer electronics, broadcasting,
communications to applications for office automation, designing,
and MIS.
The CN+I Agenda
The event is organized
- To evolve a platform for policy-makers,
manufacturers, technology professionals, large buyers,
and end-users. - For the corporate buyer to see,
experience, and evaluate various technologies and
solutions available. He will be able to interact with the
best minds in these areas. And see specific technologies
working and understand the in-depth benefits of the
technologies on display. - To provide technology marketeers a
platform to demonstrate their services, products, and
technologies.
Convergence of computer, telephony, and
broadcasting will bring about an information revolution in the
country, provided the policy environments are congenial.
Hopefully the event will contribute towards this cause.
Convergence is the quintessence of deploying newer and better
technologies. And, the era of convergence has arrived. The
organizers have focussed on the right theme.
