5G to enhance Indian economy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged for the quick deployment of 5G networks in India, claiming that the next-generation mobile broadband technology will alter lives and enhance India’s economy by $450 billion over the next 15 years. He added that the introduction of 5G technology would benefit India’s agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure and logistics sectors.

In view of  PM Modi inaugurating India’s first 5G testbed today, on the occasion of World Telecom Day, Nokia India’s spokesperson informed"Nokia is working with Indian CSPs for getting their networks ready for 5G and has demonstrated its 5G capabilities in the live trials. As a front runner in the PLI (Production Linked Incentive) scheme, we are already manufacturing 5G equipment in India at our Chennai factory while our global delivery centres in Noida and Chennai are managing 5G deployments for several global markets. We are all set to support the CSPs unleash the 5G revolution in India."

PM called for stronger cooperation and collaboration between government and various industry players to fasten 5G rollouts. Speaking at the silver jubilee celebrations of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India(TRAI), Modi said:“5G will not merely boost internet speeds, but will also rapidly ring in economic progress and boost jobs creation.”

Criticizing the previous Congress-led UPA government, PM Modi said: “2G era was symptomatic of frustration and policy paralysis.” The country has proceeded to 3G, 4G,5G and is now preparing for 6G within the next decade, he added.
